The LIVLOLA Story
Two sisters, Sim Li and Sim Hui both were on a business trip overseas, attending a huge expo where they were exposed to different manufacturers involved in the apparel, technology, food & beverage industry and much more. At that point of time, they were determined to find a business opportunity that the both of them can relate to and are both passionate about. That is when they thought fashion could be the intersection (They both were working in a totally different industry at that time - Sim Li in brand marketing; Sim Hui in corporate banking).
They have chosen handbags as their key product because they trust that handbag is an essential fashion item that every woman should have. It carries women's everyday essential items but it is also a reflection of a female's personality and style. LIVLOLA found that females take a long time browsing the net or at shopping malls to get a bag that they like or which fits a particular occasion. That is why they made a site that makes it easier for females to shop for handbags for a particular occasion by guiding them straight to suggested bags and narrows down the search.
The Brains Behind LIVLOLA
LIVLOLA was founded by two sisters, Sim Li and Sim Hui who have the passion for fashion. Both sisters have made their mark as winners of X Top Model and Miss Universe finalist 2012 in the fashion industry respectively. Sim Li, the elder sister, was a brand marketer for a few top FMCG companies for about 4 years before deciding to take the leap of faith to focus on something that she feels strongly about which is to build her own fashion brand – LIVLOLA. Sim Hui, the younger sister who is working in corporate banking have always had the zeal to be an entrepreneur in the fashion industry. With both sisters carrying the hunger and drive for fashion, they have launched their own brand that depicts who they are and what they love.
LIVLOLA's Game Plan
LIVLOLA aims to help females choose the right bag for the right occasion that suits their personal style in just a click, without sacrificing their time. They believe what sets them apart is their minimal style for work and casual, with a straightforward approach to owning a good quality handbag, yet still staying stylish and empowered. Currently, their main market is in Malaysia but they plan to expand their market within South East Asia. The biggest challenge for LIVLOLA is to create awareness in the digital platform, as fashion is a relatively mass market.
Strutting Down The Catwalk
Starting off the LIVLOLA brand has been a notable achievement by itself. The two sisters took a 'leap of faith' to pursue their interest in fashion and grabbed the opportunity coming when they saw that there were limited local fashion brands that focus on women handbag and accessories while the e-commerce scene within Malaysia for such industry is still growing. Both of them had the foresight and thought that it was the right time to capitalise on such opportunity. Forming a brand is easy but to make it sustainable is tough work. LIVLOLA aims to break through every achievement that they have made along the way to grow the brand and make the business sustainable.
