There are many international days currently observed by the United Nations and other associations. If you scroll down the list, you will realise that we basically celebrate everything. Yes! It’s EVERYTHING! Here are 20 International Observances you probably might not know they even exist.


1) World Day of Snowman – 18th January

Purpose:
To represent two aspects: On one side the snowman as a symbol for dangers impending him and us, especially by climate changes. On the other side the snowman as a leitmotif for friendliness and sympathy.

2) Global Belly Laugh Day – 24th January

Purpose:
To celebrate the great gift of laughter!

3) World Nutella Day – 5th February

Purpose:
A celebration of the hazelnut-chocolate spread made by Ferrero.

4) The International Day of Awesomeness – 10th March

Purpose:
To celebrate every person, place, thing, or idea in the world that is awesome – ‘No one’s perfect, but everyone can be awesome’.

5) International Ask a Question Day – 14th March

Purpose:
To remember that questioning is the way we learn new things.

6) World Penguin Day – 25th April

Purpose:
Great opportunities to learn about and appreciate one of the few natives of Antarctica.

7) International Respect For Chickens Day – 4th May

Purpose:
To celebrate chickens throughout the world and protests the suffering of chickens in farming, cockfighting, experimental research, hatching projects and other activities that mistreat chickens.

8) International No Diet Day – 6th May

Purpose:
To promote a healthy life style with a focus on health at any size and in raising awareness of the potential dangers of dieting and the unlikelihood of success.

9) World Milk Day – 1st June

Purpose:
To focus attention on milk and to publicise activities connected with milk and the milk industry.

10) International Violin Day – 17th June

Purpose:
To celebrate the birthday of famous composer, pianist and conductor, Igor Stravinsky.

11) International Sushi Day -18th June

Purpose:
To encourage people around the world to eat more sushi.

Purpose:
To showcase symbolic transfer of love, gratitude, and positive energy to earth and all its living beings.

13) International Body Piercing Day – 28th June

Purpose:
To celebrate the art form of modification, its history, and the individuals who have shaped that history.

14) World Kiss Day – 6th July

Purpose:
To remind mankind of the simple joy that comes with kissing and being kissed.

15) International Puzzle Day – 13th July

Purpose:
To celebrate the birth of Dr. Erno Rubik, the inventor of Rubik’s Cube.

16) Global Forgiveness Day – 27th August

Purpose:
To promote forgiveness.

17) International Suit Up Day – 13th October

Purpose:
Believed to be based on a phrase used by Barney Stinson, a character from the popular TV series How I Met Your Mother. People from all over the world wear a suit to work, school or wherever they are going.

18) World Pasta Day – 25th October

Purpose:
To promote the health benefits and pure pleasure of eating pasta, in every shape and form.

19) World Kindness Day -13th November

Purpose:
To encourage people to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realise we are citizens of the world.

20) World Hello Day – 21st November

Purpose:
To encourage people to use communication rather than using force to settle conflicts. To celebrate, everyone is encourage to say hello to at least ten people on the day.
