1) Kedah

[King] Tuanku Abdul Halim is the 27th and current Sultan of Kedah. He is the first person to hold the Yang di-Pertuan Agong position twice from 1970 to 1975 and from 2011 to 2016, as well as the oldest elected to the office. He is a week older than the world’s longest reigning monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

[Queen] Tuanku Hajah Haminah binti Hamidun is the current Queen of Kedah. Born a commoner from Bagan Serai, Perak, she married Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah as the second wife, following the death of the previous Sultanah and first wife of Sultan Abdul Halim. Tuanku Haminah is known to enjoy golf, tennis, badminton and music. She has participated in various golf tournaments in Kedah and initiated amateur women’s golf tournaments such as the Kedah International Red Tee Invitational in Langkawi.

2) Johor

[King] Sultan Ibrahim Ismail is the 25th Sultan of Johor and the 5th Sultan of modern Johor. He is the son of Sultan Iskandar. A motorcycle enthusiast, Sultan Ibrahim is well known as the founder of the annual motorcycling tour event, Kembara Mahkota Johor. He is also known for his sense of justice.

[Queen] Raja Zarith Sofiah is the Queen of Johor. She was born as a member of the Perak Royal Family. While still attending Oxford, she married the then-heir to the throne of Johor. Now a mother of six, she participates in the work of non-governmental organisations and universities, and writes a periodical column for a newspaper.

3) Kelantan

[King] Sultan Muhammad V was proclaimed Ruler of Kelantan in September 2010, succeeding his father, Sultan Ismail Petra, who is considered incapacitated by illness. He then married Tengku Zubaidah Tengku Norudin or Kangsadal, a member of the Pattani Royal Family in November 2004 but eventually ended in divorce. They did not have any children.

4) Negeri Sembilan

[King] Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir is the eleventh Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. Tuanku Muhriz obtained a degree in law (LLB) from the University of Wales. He began his career in an international bank in Malaysia and became a director and shareholder of a company licensed as brokers in interbank foreign exchange and in the currency deposits market (1973–1986).

[Queen] Tengku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud is the current Tunku Ampuan Besar or Queen of Negeri Sembilan. Born in Batu Gajah, Perak, she is of Terengganu royal lineage. Tuanku Aishah studied in Sekolah Rendah Sultan Sulaiman, Kuala Terrengganu and later Convent Taiping. She also studied in Convent Bukit Nanas in Kuala Lumpur. She previously worked in a bank where she met her husband, Tuanku Muhriz.

5) Pahang

[King] Sultan Ahmad Shah is the fifth Sultan of Pahang and also served as the seventh Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia from 26 April 1979 to 25 April 1984. Sultan Ahmad Shah is a keen sportsman and was the President of the Malaysian Football Association (FAM) from 1984 until 2014, the President of Asian Football Confederation(AFC) until 2002 and Asean Football Federation (AFF) 2011.

[Queen] Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom binti Abdullah is the current Sultanah of Pahang and the second wife of Sultan Ahmad Shah, following the decease of his first Sultanah due to cancer. She is of Persian and Pakistani descent/origin. Sultanah Kalsom has used her royal position to further many social causes and is a patron of numerous organisations, lending her presence to inspire those engaged in managing these organisations.

6) Perak

[King] Sultan Dr. Nazrin Shah is the 35th Sultan of Perak. With his excellent academic and intellectual background from Oxford and Harvard University, Sultan Nazrin’s has written articles and spoken on a wide range of issues including the role of the constitutional monarchy in Malaysia, education, Islam, ethnic relations and economic development. He has assumed the role of Financial Ambassador of the Malaysian International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC), has been Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Malaya since 1989 and is the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar.

[Queen] Tuanku Zara Salim, the Sultanah of Perak, is a chemical engineer by training. She currently heads an oil and gas consultancy firm based in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to that, Zara worked at Petronas, became an Account Manager at Formis Network Services Sdn Bhd and then assumed the post of Vice-President of Partnerships and Alliances at Formis (Malaysia) Berhad, a technology-based company listed on Bursa Malaysia. She is also a certified life-saver and adventure sports enthusiast.

7) Perlis

[King] Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin is the current Raja of Perlis. He served as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 13 December 2001 to 12 December 2006 and 7th Raja of Perlis since 2000. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin served with the Ministry Defence of Malaysia and he is presently the Commondaing Officer of Regiment 404 of the Army Reserve Unit with the rank of Colonel.

Tuanku Fauziah is the current Raja Perempuan of Perlis. Tuanku Fauziah is a princess of the royal houses of Terrangganu on her father’s side and Kelantan on her mother’s side. At the very young age of 17, she became engaged to Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, who at that time was still studying in the UK.

8) Selangor

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is the ninth and current Sultan of Selangor. Sharafuddin is known for being adventurous, having circumnavigated the world and scaled a mountain. Prior to becoming Sultan, Sharafuddin was an avid sailor. In 1995, he circumnavigated his yacht, SY Jugra, around the world. The journey took 22 months. He has also taken part in rallies and long distance car races. As Sultan, he is known to have revoked state awards conferred by him or by his father. Sharafuddin married twice, and is presently divorced. He acceded to the throne and reigns without a consort.

9) Terrenganu

Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin is the 17th Sultan of Terrangganu. He served as the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 2006 to 2011. Tuanku Mizan was appointed as Assistant Land Levy Collector, working for a period of about a year at the District Land Office in Kuala Terengganu, prior to his departure overseas to attend the military course in England. Tuanku Mizan’s also worked for State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) UPEN and was also Assistant District Land Officer at the Kuala Terengganu District Land Office.

Sultanah Nur Zahirah is the current Sultanah of Terrengganu. The Queen loves interior decoration and does much of the interior design at the palace. The Sultanah is also interested in martial arts, as the activity keeps a person body fit and trim. Her Majesty is known for her generosity. Not only did she contributed monetarily to charities, she also involved herself with programs such as the Humanitarian response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Another important accomplishment is the Tadika An Nur, a well established pre-school in Terengganu pioneered by Seri Paduka Bagin.
