Singapore has the highest smartphone penetration all across the globe. Smartphone apps are a huge part of our everyday lives. Singaporeans do everything from booking a car ride to browsing for interior designers on their phones. So here are 10 great mobile apps to use in Singapore.
1) Carousell
Carousell is a consumer-to-consumer marketplace where you can buy or sell anything under the sun. Sell off preloved goods or get great steals from people looking to get rid of stuff for spring cleaning. Like what they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
2) Google Maps
There have been many, many navigation apps that have propped up of the late, but none of them beats the kingpin of getting around, Google. Google Maps is a great app, with added features such as street view, ratings of establishments and nearby essentials like ATMs and gas stations.
3) Citymapper
In second place for navigation comes CityMapper. It’s a fully loaded navigation and bus timing app. It gives you routes, timing and even pricing as it plans your journey for you. It also comes included with an offline version of the Singapore MRT/LRT Map, which is especially handy when you’re all out of data.
4) Chope
Singapore is crowded, and to find a seat at a hotspot restaurant might be an almost impossible task. Luckily, there is an app for that. Chope, is a Singlish (A Singaporean colloquial version of English) word that actually means to reserve a seat at a crowded dining area with an article like a tissue packet. The app, however, helps you make reservations to many restaurants all across Singapore.
5) Popcorn
Popcorn is a great, feature-packed movie app. Not only can you check movie timings across all the different cinemas in Singapore, but you can buy tickets, watch trailers, read reviews and more, right from the app.
6) SingaBus
SingaBus is a bus timing app with a clean, simple interface. It pulls data directly form the bus providers servers, so you can be sure of its accuracy. When you search for bus stops you can hit the little heart-shaped button, and you’ll ‘love’ the stop and it’ll go under your list of ‘loved’ stops so your frequently visited bus stops can always be accessed easily for timings.
7) Ofo
Bike sharing is a phenomenon that’s hit Singapore by storm. Ofo is a bike sharing app that’s pretty convenient – grab a bike anywhere and park it anywhere. As long as you park it legally, of course.
8) Qanvast
Qanvast lets you look at local home ideas from landed properties, to condos and to HDB (Housing Development Board) flats. It matches you with local interior design firms and has a repository of useful information on budget, design and reviews by fellow homeowners.
9) Lazada
Lazada is similar to an Asian Amazon. Shop electronic gadgets, beauty products, and more in this all-in-one site. Most sellers, including official stores and Lazada, offer free local shipping. Some of them even offer cash on delivery, meaning you don’t have to fork out a single cent until your goods are right at your doorstep.
