As each day passes we see more cases of Covid-19 being reported with the total number of cases reaching the hundreds now. As a result, fear levels amongst Malaysians are rising. Mass public gatherings have been cancelled, church services are postponed, and everyone is advised to avoid big crowds. However, some of us may be feeling under the weather and a little paranoid. Don’t worry because Covid-19 testing can now be done at home.
Fears Over Covid-19
Symptoms of Covid-19 include a runny nose, sore throat, cough, and fever. The problem is that these symptoms are very similar to the common flu. Some of us may be experiencing these symptoms and need some peace of mind.
Moreover, if you’re unable or hesitant to go get tested in the hospital then there’s a new solution. Covid-19 testing at home is now available thanks to the Health Ministry’s latest collaboration with the private sector. The new service allows those who wish to have the infection tested but do not meet the criteria as a patient under investigation (PUI).
Covid-19 Testing at Home
In order to receive a Covid-19 test at home, you will need to contact one of the many companies involved. These are:

Trained medical and paramedics will carry out the Covid-19 testing in your home and send the sample to a private laboratory.
Moving on, charges for the test is subject to the private company that is conducting the test. However, keep in mind that the free Covid-19 testing in hospitals is only available for those who meet the list of criteria:
- If you returned from China, Japan, South Korea, Italy and Iran within the last 14 days, with symptoms like coughing, sore throat, fever, or breathing difficulties;
- Criteria 2: If you have been identified as a close contact of someone who has a confirmed COVID-19 case, someone who’s been living in the same household, travelling together, working together in a close office space, or meeting for more than 15 minutes
