During the recent IMMAF-WMMAA Asian Open Championships, she defeated her opponent, Nurzhamal Sadykova of Kazakhstan with a technical knockout (TKO). She accomplished this just in the second round of the final match of the strawweight division. This win makes her the first Malaysian mixed martial artist (MMA) fighter to grab the Gold at such an esteemed competition.

Colleen is 21 years old and has roots in Penang. She started MMA roughly a mere two years ago, but her fighting resume is already super impressive. Being active in Muay Thai, kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and the popular Spartan Race, she sure is one tough cookie!

For this tournament, Colleen and her coaches had their sights on Gold from the very start. There was no room for anything else. When Negaraku was played after she received the Gold medal, she started to cry. There were also Malaysian supporters who sang loudly and proudly.

Another Malaysian fighter, Brandon Tang, also managed quite a feat. He took home a bronze medal for our country. A huge congratulations to both Colleen and Brandon for making Malaysia so proud! We are sure that Malaysia will continue to make their mark in the world of MMA.
