Whether you are a vegetarian or a vegan, finding a place to eat to cater to your diet is not an easy task in Malaysia. However, the rise in ethical and conscious lifestyle which extends to one’s diet has seen an increase in vegetarian and vegan cafes. Whether it is due to ethical choices or due to the myriad of benefits of eating plant-based meals, one thing is for sure, it need not be plain and boring. 1. Sprout Plant Based Fusion

The brainchild of Daniela or Dani, Sprout was founded in 2020. The idea came about from Dani’s own eye-opening journey after she started her own plant-based diet journey in 2019. Sprout is located in Bangsar Village I and is open from Monday to Sunday from 10 am – 10 pm. Their dishes are fun and colourful and are also nutritionally balanced. They do not use fake meat but you wouldn’t miss it with the selection of dishes that they have.

2. Loving Cafe

Old is gold and that certainly is the case for Loving Cafe. Located in Sri Petaling, Loving Cafe has been providing delicious vegan food since 2010. The aim of the cafe is to promote veganism as the ultimate choice of food in the future. The cafe uses organic vegetables and ingredients in the preparation of their food. Other than that, they also don’t use artificial ingredients in their meals. Recently, their in-house Sourdough Vegan Burgers were awarded PETA’s 2021 Best Veggie Burger in Malaysia Award so it is definitely a must-try!

3. M’Laboori

A new venture by Murni Discovery, M’Laboori is a vegetarian cafe with a cosy and minimalistic design. One of the unique features of M’Laboori is that it is also a library. You can kick back and enjoy yourself while feeding both your mind and tummy. They serve international vegetarian cuisine and offer a mix of western and eastern dishes. It is also a great place for coffee lovers.

4. Parklife

Parklife is all about good, wholesome, nutritious and beautiful food. Located in The Sphere, Bangsar, it is not difficult to find as you can easily recognise it from an array of colourful salads on its window display. They aim to provide food that can cater to all people regardless of religious belief, ethical belief and even under the plethora of food dietary regimes such as Keto, Paleo and more. Their food is a reflection of ‘Contemporary London Cuisine’ which also echoes the environment that they would like to create i.e the feeling of being in London Hyde Park with friends and family while having a picnic.

5. Superfine

While not a vegetarian or vegan cafe per se, Superfine serves an array of vegetarian dishes for vegetarians out there. Formerly known as The Lolla Co and located in Ampang, it is now known as Superfine and located in Seventeen Mall. Try their sauteed green, vegetarian baked egg or malty buttermilk pancakes and your day would definitely be super fine.
